Oliver was called to the Bar of England and Wales before cross qualifying to be a solicitor. Prior to forming S&O Partnership Ltd, he practised at the top ranked, leading London law firms, Kingsley Napley LLP and BCL Solicitors LLP.
Choosing to specialise in criminal and regulatory law, he is experienced, in particular, in high profile, heavyweight general criminal matters. He has defended clients in the following areas:
- Assault (of varying severity), including domestic violence
- Bribery and Corruption
- Business crime
- Driving / motoring offences
- Drug trafficking
- Financial investigations
- Public justice, including perjury and perverting the course of justice
- Sexual offences
Oliver has advised individuals wishing to institute private prosecutions.
He represents individuals and companies in relation to investigations by the Department of Innovation and Skills (BIS), HM Revenue and Customs, the Serious Fraud Office and the police.
Additionally, Oliver acts for individuals and companies facing regulatory proceedings, including professional discipline, and inquests. He is experienced in proceedings before the General Dental Council; General Medical Council; the Health and Safety Executive; Health and Care Professions Council and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
He is a Major Scholar and Duke of Edinburgh Award winner of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
